Please could someone explain what's happening when I get this message:

******** Warning 16, code VD 39, statement 1 on line 3032
Command: REML [PRINT=model,components,waldTests; PSE=differences; FMETHOD=automa
Error in AI algorithm when forming denominator DF for approximate F-tests.

In the analysis I'm currently doing with one of my students, I get this message with one model but not with a more complex model. Also, with this message, the Wald Tests table prints out chi-sqd tests of Wald/df. If this message doesn't appear, I get an F-test (which I suppose is preferable).

An explanation at the level of "competent user but not card-carrying statistician" would be most welcome.
