Installing VSN License Management on Unix Servers ================================================= VSN License Management uses the FLEXlm software produced by Macrovision Inc. (http://www.macrovision.com). The FLEXlm license server can be installed on one platform (eg a Unix server) and serve licenses to various applications running on the same or other platforms connected via a local area network. The network administrator is referred to the FLEXlm End Users Guide, in particular section 1.6 for details of installing FLEXlm. In many cases, it is expected that FLEXlm is already present on the system and merely needs additional license keys for the VSN applications. An online copy of the FLEXlm End Users Guide is supplied with your product CD-ROM or download, in FLEXlm\License\htmlman\flexuser\TOC.htm. License Requests ================ Please supply the following information when requesting a license key: 1. hostname. This is obtained by running the command "hostname" on the server. 2. hostid. This is obtained by running the command "lmutil lmhostid" on the server. 3. Site Reference. This is the VSN Site Reference number, e.g. VSGE7K The license request should be submitted to support@vsn-intl.com Notes Specific to VSN application licensing =========================================== 1. The vendor daemon is called VSN 2. The vendor daemon is constructed with FLEXlm v9.5. You may need to update your FLEXlm binaries (lmgd, lmutil). Version 9.5 binaries are supplied. 3. The FEATURE lines use a version code that is based on support expiry date. For example, if your support expires during November 2005 the code will be 0511 and the key will be valid for any version or upgrade issued before the end of that month. The following Unix versions are currently supported: i86_n3 Windows running on Intel 32-bit processors i86_r6 Linux, Redhat 6 running on Intel 32-bit processors sun4_u5 Sun Solaris 32-bit Further Help ============ If you require further advice or help with use of FLEXlm on a Unix server to license VSN applications, please contact support@vsn-intl.com quoting your site reference number.
