Both the Teaching and Discovery editions try to install the license into the Bin directory. On Windows Vista and Windows 7 this should be handled by the Virtual Store when UAC is switched on. This appears to work for GenStat 12 which installs the license to the Common Files directory. The license will get installed to ‘C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Common Files\VSN International\Licenses\’. However it fails for Discovery / Teaching which try to insert the license into the Bin folder.

Solution: Right-click on the icon to run the application | Click ‘Run as Administrator’. Now the License will be able to install to the C:\Program Files\<app>\Bin directory.

N.B. If UAC is turned off then there should be no problems – the license will be installed into the expected directory.
